I am from China. I am a 39-year-old piano teacher, and I’m married. I started taking part in collective activities at the CIMOI about a year ago, when the pandemic started. I participated in almost all of the activities and improved my French through listening and speaking with others. Monsieur Kanga and Madame Aola’s workshops were wonderful and useful. I didn’t just learn French, but also about Quebec’s culture and history.
Because I participated in the CIMOI’s activities, now I can speak French with my Québécois friends. I’m able to communicate in French with people in public—for example, ordering a meal at a restaurant or shopping at the mall. I can also offer piano lessons to people who only speak French.
