Are your services offered in languages other than French?

Yes. Not only are our services offered in French, but also in other languages, including English, Arabic, Spanish, Urdu, Farsi and Mandarin.

Can you help me fill out the application to renew my permanent resident?

Yes, we can provide this service. First, we’ll send you the link so that you can fill out the form by yourself (on your own). Then, you can make an appointment with one of our intervention workers to go over your form, if necessary.

Do I need to make an appointment to access your services?

We strongly suggest making an appointment in order to have a personalized meeting, and, especially, to ensure that an intervention worker is available.

PART-TIME FRANCIZATION CLASSES

If I already have some French-language ability, do I need to take an entry test?

Whether you’ve already taken courses through the Ministry or are doing so for the first time, the first step is always an evaluation. The results will ensure that you’re placed in a group at the appropriate level for optimal learning.

If I drop out of a class mid-session, do I need to register again for another one?

If your session is interrupted, you’ll need to re-register and start a new session from the beginning, no matter how many classes you’ve taken.

If there's a change in my availability, can I change my class schedule?

The Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) only authorizes schedule changes at the beginning of the session.

E.A.S. EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE SERVICES

Will you make my C.V. for me?

No, this service goes well beyond that! The program is designed to help you develop your autonomy. Your counselor will guide you as you create and update your C.V. according to your profile and different job offers. In addition to providing C.V. support, your counselor will put you in touch with employers and will help you prepare for job interviews.

Will you find me a job?

Your job counselor will give you the tools you need to support you in your job search, including submitting your application to multiple businesses to increase the probability of getting you an interview.

When can I start the program?

Whenever you’re ready! All you need to do is make an appointment to confirm your eligibility and register. After that, your counselor will meet with you to evaluate your specific needs and set up a personalized action plan with you.

J.R.P. JOB READINESS PROGRAM

Will I be paid for my participation in the program?

The program is offered in partnership with Services Québec. When you register, you will need to fill out a form and your situation will be evaluated by a Services Québec agent. If necessary, our counselors are available to help you with the form.

Is the internship mandatory?

Yes, the four-week internship is mandatory. It is an integral part of the program. It’s also an excellent opportunity to consider if you want to integrate into the job market and develop experience in Quebec.

Will I find an internship in my field?

We will do everything in our power to help you find an internship in your field. An added benefit of the program is helping you discover the many different options available to you in Quebec’s job market in your field of specialty. In order to maximize your chances of finding an internship, it may be in a field related to your field of specialty.

What happens if I need to step away from the program while it's underway?

This program requires good attendance in order to optimize your job search. It is rich with content and every piece of information is relevant for your professional integration journey.

If you need more flexibility in your job search process, we suggest that you consider the Employment Assistance Services, which are tailored to your personal and professional needs.

How can I tell if Contact-Emploi would be a useful activity for me?

A job counselor will help clarify your needs and will work with you to find out if the Contact-Emploi event is an option that could help you reach your professional goals.

Do I need to register to participate in Contact-Emploi?

Can I participate in the Contact-Emploi event without participating in the training workshops?

Experience has shown us that candidates who have participated in the training workshops have had a higher rate of success in the recruitment process. We strongly recommend taking advantage of the training workshops, which have been designed to provide you with resources.

FAQ VIE COLLECTIVE

OBJECTIVE INTEGRATION

Who should participate in the Objective: Integration session?

The Objective Integration session is primary intended for immigrants who have an intermediate-level understanding of French.

What kinds of topics are addressed in the Objective: Integration session?

In Objective Integration, we’ll talk about:

  • Cultural diversity and adaptation in Quebec;
  • Democratic values and Quebec values as expressed in the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms, and how these come up in daily life.
  • Unique aspects of Quebec’s job market (cultural norms in the workplace)
  • Legal structures surrounding employment.

How long does the training program last?

The total duration of the training program is 24 hours, divided over 4 days. Sessions take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. [30-minute lunch break] and from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

What are the advantages of participating in this training program?

This program can help guide you through your integration, saving you time in the process. It will open doors for you in Quebec, teaching you about its culture and workplaces. This is the key to your installation and social success.

What is the purpose of Objective Integration for people who are undergoing Quebec's selection process?

For those who are in the selection process for one of Quebec’s economic immigration programs, Objective Integration will allow you to obtain a certificate of participation demonstrating that you have learned about democratic values and Quebec values as expressed in the Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms, now an indispensable element to validate your candidacy for your CSQ [Certificat de sélection du Québec].

How long does the program last?

The program involves seven weekly meetings.

What are the eligibility criteria for participation in this program?

This program is designed for parents with children aged 0 to 5. However, anyone interested in the program will be considered.

Will the program take place in person or online?

The program will take place in person, in accordance with the measures recommended by the Ministère de la santé.

PARENT SPACE

Can I participate if I'm not a parent?

Yes. Anyone interested in the topic of parenting in the context of immigration is welcome to join our workshop.

Will the workshop be offered in person or remotely?

The workshop will take place in person over seven consecutive weeks, in accordance with the precautionary measures recommended by the Ministère de la santé.

Will I have the opportunity to share my concerns as an immigrant parent?

The purpose of the workshop is to overcome the challenges that immigrant parents experience as they navigate parenthood in a new country. We’ll address strategies, advice and resources in our interactive sessions.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

At what level of French do I need to be in order to participate in collective activities?

It’s required to be at least at a beginner level. Our collective activities are a great opportunity to enrich your vocabulary and practice French in a friendly environment.

Are there exams after the activities?

No, there are no exams. The goal is to learn more about different aspects of Quebec society while practicing your French.

Will I have the opportunity to socialize?

Yes. Our collective activities are held in small groups, which facilitates communication and conversations between participants.

FRANCIZATION FOR BUSINESSES (MFOR | MESURE DE FORMATION DE LA MAIN-D’ŒUVRE)

What happens if an employee leaves the company during their participation in the program?

For a business to continue benefiting from the measure, a minimum of 4 people must participate in all sessions.

How are classes held during statutory holidays?

Classes will be postponed to the end of the session to account for class hours that were not held during statutory holidays. The session will always contain the same number of classes.

Is it possible to attend classes online?

Yes, you can choose to attend online or in person.

If the business does not have an appropriate space in which to offer French classes, does the CIMOI have rooms available?

Yes, the CIMOI can provide you with classrooms if they are available at the requested time.
